Methods of drafting Correspondence
Although the methods of composing or drafting correspondence vary from office to office, these usually fall under the following five categories

(a) Dictation of correspondence to shorthand typists or stenographers or dictating machines. This method is usually adopted by higher executives or managerial who find little time to draft correspondence in writing.

(b) Sometimes, busy executives merely note down the outline or points to be covered by the correspondence (letters, circulars, etc.) and the actual drafting is done by the secretary or a correspondence clerk.

(c) Drafting of correspondence in writing. This is usually done in case of important, complicated or confidential correspondence.

(d) Use of 'Form' Letters or postcards.

(e) Use of standardised or Form paragraph along with drafting or dictation of the reminder of the letter.
