Ordinarily, it denotes a common media through which members of the entire community “effectively satisfy their demand”. The word assumes different meanings in different contexts. For example, when a sales manager speaks of marketing he means selling, an advertising manager means advertising, and owner of a store has in mind retailing. All these statements reflect only a part of the activity of marketing but do not by themselves constitute the whole area of marketing.
